Lady Superstar Nayanthara is one of the most loved stars in K-Town, Nayanthara has managed to reign the industry as a leading lady for over twelve amazing and impressive years. Her upcoming film Kolaiyuthir Kaalam is set to release on the 9th of August. Today we shed light on some of her most loved and best performances over the years.


This film marked the debut of Nayanthara in the Tamil Film Industry, in the 2005 film she had delivered nothing short of breathtaking performance. The movie, starring Sarath Kumar in a dual role (as father and son), with the rural backdrop and the right mixture of human emotions, action, and romance, was a box office hit. Nayan became a known face after this film and It was Ayya which gave her the headstart to her Kollywood career.


The 2005 horror film Chandramukhi starring Superstar Rajinikanth will forever be a cult classic film as this was an avatar that showed Rajinikanth in a never before seen avatar. This also was a breakthrough film for Nayanthara as this film brought her to the limelight of many directors and producers. Being the second film in her career she essays the role of a stuttering music teacher. Even though she was cast only as a supporting character alongside Jyothika, Nayanthara justified her role with an impressive performance making her role a memorable one in the film.


The Film starring Suriya, Asin, and Nayanthara in lead roles was a film that remains evergreen in the hearts of fans. Ghajini was one such film that brought to light a rare medical term (short term memory loss). The film was a box office blockbuster and Nayanthara’s performance as a medical student was one of its kind that was not seen before in Tamil cinema. Nayanthara’s character and the performance had changed the course of the movie and the whole of the second revolved around the Lady Superstar.


The 2007 film directed by Vishnuvarshan starring Thala Ajith in lead roles was the remake of the 1980 film starring Superstar Rajinikanth. This was the time when Nayanthara was on the brink of being stereotyped into village characters with limited scope, the actress came back with a bang in Thala Ajith’s ‘Billa’ where she portrayed glam, action stunts with suave and comfort. The 2008 film with Dhanush in the lead role was an emotional film as this was the last film fans saw Raghuvaran on the silver screen. Nayanthara is seen to have exceptionally emoted two sides of a single character. Boss Engira Bhaskaran

Boss Engira Bhaskaran’ was a full-fledged comedy film in which Nayanthara played the perfect love interest to the film’s male lead Arya. The actress once again did not fail to impress the fans and audiences with her cute expressions flavored with some serious acting. This film was also talked about owing to the perfect on-screen chemistry between Nayan and Arya.

The Directorial debut by Atlee was regarded as one of the best films to date. Nayanthara’s growth as an actor displayed itself obviously in this much-loved film. Her parts with Jai and thereafter with Arya did not fail to move the audiences beyond tears in some exceptionally performed scenes. This psychological thriller featuring Jayam Ravi in the lead was one of the best films released in 2015. Even though Nayanthara has only a small part to play in the film, her performance was nevertheless much appreciated and loved by all fans. Nayanthara’s film as a district collector Mathivathani in ‘Aramm’ has greatly impressed one and all with her flawless performance. The actress has been receiving praise and critical acclaim for the perfect portrayal of the characters from all corners. The simple yet bold character traits that the actress has displayed in the movie has earned the actress much reverence from the film fraternity and the general fans as well.


The 2019 flick Viswasam featuring Thala Ajith in the lead role was a film that was a box office blockbuster.
