Director Venkat Prabhu’s next film Maanadu has been making the news for quite some time now. The film was delayed earlier due to a few constraints but was supposed to get back on track this month. Touted to be a political thriller, this project had huge expectations on its back due to the interesting combination upfront.
However, now the producer of the film has officially stated that STR will no longer be a part of the project. In a statement to the press, the producer has stated how good-hearted Simbu is, but the film didn’t materialize due to logistical issues. He added that this was a project close to his heart, but couldn’t avoid dropping Simbu from it.
Simbu was last seen in the film Vantha Rajavathaan Varuven, directed by Sundar C and produced by Lyca Productions. He has a few more projects in hand like the Mufti remake.
Venkat Prabhu had announced his next film last year, produced by Suresh Kamatchi under the banner V House Productions. The film had Simbu as the male lead, while Kalyani Priyadarshan was roped in as the female lead
It’s very unfortunate that I couldn’t work with my brother #str in #maanaadu Everything is time bounded. Considering the amount of emotional and financial pressure that the producer is going through, I have to respect the decision taken by the producer. Thnks for all the love! 🙏🏽— venkat prabhu (@vp_offl) August 8, 2019
